We'll set out from Oak Harbor bright and early (or later if you prefer an afternoon trip) and cruise to the hottest fishing spots on Lake Erie. Our spacious 30-footer has plenty of room for up to 6 anglers, so bring your buddies or the whole family. We provide all the gear you need - quality rods, reels, lures, and live bait. Just remember to grab your fishing license, some snacks, and your favorite drinks. Our captains are local experts who live and breathe Lake Erie fishing. They'll share tips, techniques, and local knowledge to make sure everyone in your group has a great time on the water.
Lake Erie fishing is all about variety. We'll likely start by targeting the lake's famous walleye population. Depending on the season, we might troll with crankbaits or nightcrawler harnesses, or we could be casting weight-forward spinners. If the perch are biting, we'll switch gears and drop some minnows to the bottom - there's nothing quite like pulling up a stringer full of jumbo perch. And don't forget about the smallmouth bass - these hard-fighting bronzebacks love to hang around rocky structure and will give your arms a workout. Our boat is equipped with top-notch electronics to help us find the fish, and we've got plenty of cooler space to keep your catch fresh.
"We had an absolutely fantastic experience! Captain Cody went above and beyond to get us on the fish and ensured we reached our limit. The fishing was both challenging and incredibly fun, making it a truly memorable trip." - Jonathan
"The captain and first mate were fantastic—very friendly and knowledgeable. I'll definitely be booking another trip!" - Alec
"In July, I went walleye fishing with Captain Vic, accompanied by two couples and a 5-year-old child. The boat and equipment were clean and in excellent condition. The open sides made it easy to move around and provided plenty of space for fishing. Captain Vic truly made this one of the best charter experiences I've had. He's incredibly knowledgeable about fishing, the lakes, and the best spots. After a 45-minute rain delay, our trip was extended to ensure we got the full fishing time. On a personal note, Captain Vic is a fascinating individual. We spent hours chatting with him about various topics—he's one of the most intelligent people you'll meet. He also kept the 5-year-old entertained, which was a nice bonus! Since we came back late and the fish cleaning stations were closed, he kindly filleted our walleye. I highly, highly recommend this charter with Captain Vic and this boat. I'll definitely be coming back" - Donald
Walleye: The crown jewel of Lake Erie fishing, walleye are prized for their delicious white meat and challenging fight. These golden-eyed predators can grow up to 20 pounds or more in Lake Erie, though a good-sized keeper is typically 3-5 pounds. Spring and fall are prime walleye seasons, but with the right techniques, we can catch them year-round. Walleye tend to school up, so when we find them, get ready for some fast action!
Yellow Perch: Don't let their size fool you - yellow perch pack a punch in both flavor and fun. These feisty panfish are a blast to catch, especially when they're schooling up in late summer and fall. We often find them in 20-40 feet of water, and a good day can yield dozens of fish. Lake Erie is famous for its "jumbo" perch, which can reach 12-14 inches. Their sweet, flaky meat makes for some of the best fish fries you'll ever taste.
Smallmouth Bass: Known as "bronzebacks" for their beautiful coloration, smallmouth bass are pound-for-pound some of the hardest fighting fish in the lake. They love rocky areas and underwater structure, so we'll target them around reefs and drop-offs. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but summer can be excellent too. These acrobatic fish will leap out of the water and make your drag sing. While most Lake Erie smallies are in the 2-4 pound range, 5+ pounders aren't uncommon, and the lake record is over 9 pounds!
It's not just about the fish - though that's a big part of it! Our trips offer a perfect mix of action, relaxation, and Lake Erie scenery. You'll feel the excitement of your rod bending with a big fish, learn new techniques from our expert guides, and create lasting memories with friends and family. Lake Erie's western basin, where we fish, is known for its abundance and variety of fish. One minute you could be reeling in a monster walleye, the next you're battling a hard-fighting smallmouth. And let's not forget the bragging rights - nothing beats showing off your catch at the end of the day!
Our captains are more than just guides; they're passionate anglers who love sharing their knowledge. They'll teach you about Lake Erie's ecosystem, fish behavior, and the best techniques for each species. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced angler looking to hone your skills, you'll come away from the trip a better fisherman.
The 30' Baha we use is perfect for Lake Erie fishing. It's stable enough to handle the lake's sometimes choppy conditions, but nimble enough to get us into the best fishing spots. There's plenty of room to move around, comfortable seating for when the action slows down, and all the amenities you need for a day on the water.
A Lake Erie fishing trip with Liberty Charters LLC is more than just a day out - it's a chance to experience some of the best freshwater fishing in North America. Whether you're aiming to fill the cooler with tasty walleye and perch, or you're after the thrill of battling big smallmouth bass, we've got you covered. Our experienced captains, top-notch equipment, and intimate knowledge of Lake Erie's hotspots mean you're in for a world-class fishing adventure.

The search for a top-notch captain is over, and the hook sets have begun! A group of nine men couldn’t have asked for a better time—it was definitely worth the trip! We drove over six hours, and by the end, we all agreed we'd turn around and do it all again next weekend. Captain Rob went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied both on and off the boat. The lodging was excellent, he was extremely knowledgeable on the water, and he knew exactly how to get fish on the boat. He also recommended great places to eat and drink. We’ll definitely be back
